Adelman Wants Love Back, Even If Just For A Few Games

Mar 30, 2013 11:30 AM

Kevin Love's shooting hand won't be re-evaluated until sometime next week, but Minnesota Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman is still hoping to see him on the court this season.

Love has said that he'd like to play again this year.

"I'd love to see him get out there and play," Adelman said. "He certainly would help us. And we'd get to see guys play together who haven't played together all year. I think it would be [enough time]: Have him on the floor and put guys together. It will effect our rotation again, but it's a nice effect to have."

NBA: Refs Missed Foul Call On Kobe

Mar 28, 2013 4:56 PM

The NBA has released a statement that a foul should have been called on Kobe Bryant in the final seconds of the Los Angeles Lakers' 120-117 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.

Bryant made contact with Ricky Rubio on a last-second three-point attempt that could have tied the game.

"Video review by the league office confirmed that Kobe Bryant fouled Rubio while Rubio was in his shooting motion," the league said on its website. "Rubio should have been awarded three free throws."

Rick Adelman To Consider Resigning In Offseason

Mar 21, 2013 11:45 PM

If his wife continues to deal with health issues, Rick Adelman believes he may resign as head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves this offseason.

“I think it’s something I’m just going to have to sit down with my wife and family and just talk about and see where we’re going with this," Adelman said Thursday. "The most important thing is where we’re going with her health. Whatever happens will happen naturally.”

"I think there will be a right time to look at everything. I don’t want to really talk about those types of things until it’s done.”

Adelman left the Timberwolves for three weeks -- 11 games -- in January. Minnesota went just 2-9 in that span under Terry Porter.

The Timberwolves are 23-42 this season, which started with playoff aspirations that have since become decimated due to injuries.

Love Admits He Might Not Return This Season

Mar 16, 2013 10:56 AM

Kevin Love admitted that he may not be able to return this season.

“I’d say that has crossed my mind, but as far as making a decision, I haven’t made that decision yet,” Love said.

Love has broken his right shooting hand twice this season, on Oct. 17 while doing knuckle pushups and in a Jan. 3 game at Denver.

“We’ll see what a guy like Glen says and see what D.K. and Coach says and we’ll probably all make a decision,” Love said, referring to team owner Glen Taylor, president of basketball operations David Kahn and coach Rick Adelman. “At the end of the day, the decision is still mine and I’d still like to go out there and join the team.

“The hand is great, my body feels great. It’s going to be a big offseason. Part of coming back [yet this season], you want to give the fans something, but you also want to do something for the team and yourself. You kind of want to see what you have here when you have a full team, and we really haven’t had that yet.”

Love To Miss At Least Two More Weeks

Mar 13, 2013 7:30 PM

Kevin Love did not receive clearance to return from his broken hand following an evaluation by his surgeon on Wednesday.

Love's broken hand is "healing properly" but will need to be reevaluated in two to three weeks.

Love would be available for a maximum of 12 games based on this timetable, increasing the odds of him sitting for the remainder of the season.

Love: Wolves' Personnel 'Definitely Looks Good On Paper'

Mar 5, 2013 1:12 PM

Kevin Love has publicly questioned his future with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the past, but he remains encouraged that the franchise is putting together a promising collection of players.

"It definitely looks good on paper," said Love. "When we were all out there, even in training camp, when we were healthy and we knew Ricky (Rubio) was coming back soon, we had a team that could really cause some trouble for the top-tier teams in the league. We have a lot of weapons. We just have to see if this is the foundation for the future, and hopefully we can keep all of this team together. This is another big summer, even though we’ve been hearing that same tone every year from the front office about every summer. But we have to see what we have right now."

Love has been limited this season due to multiple hand injuries.

Derrick Williams Credits Focus On Rebounding For Recent Strong Play

Mar 1, 2013 11:15 AM

Derrick Williams said his recent play reflects a change in mentality, particularly his focus on rebounding while filling in for the injured Kevin Love.

Williams has delivered double-doubles in three of his past six games, and is averaging 18.2 points and 10.2 rebounds during that stretch.

"Rebounding really is what got me going," Williams said. "Trying to get every rebound has got my confidence up, not really knocking down shots. I'm focused on the defensive end and trying to get as many rebounds as possible."

Williams was an unheralded prospect who played two seasons at Arizona and became the No. 2 pick in the 2011 draft.

Williams sees himself on the same trajectory in the NBA.

"Pretty much the same thing: Struggled my freshman year in college and sophomore year, I turned it around," Williams said. "I feel the same thing going on now. It really does stink that Kevin's out, but it really does help me with my confidence and trying to build it. It's tough playing behind an All-Star like that, but at the same time opportunities come around. This is the second time around that really helped my confidence a little more."
