Mar 30, 2015 3:19 PM

Stephen Curry and Brook Lopez have been named the NBA's Players of the Week.

Curry helped the Warriors to a 4-0 week, with all four wins coming against teams that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today. He averaged 30.0 points (third in the conference) and 8.0 assists (second in the conference), and connected on 24-of-38 three-point field goals (63.2 percent). Curry posted back-to-back point-assist double-doubles on March 24 and 27 during wins over the Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies.

Lopez led the Nets to a 3-1 week behind a conference-best 28.8 points, 8.5 rebounds (10th in the conference) and 2.25 blocks (tied-third in the conference). Lopez shot 57.8 percent from the field overall and converted better than 60.0 percent twice. He recorded two point-rebound double-doubles, including a 34-point, 10-rebound effort during which he also contributed three blocks and two steals in a 91-88 win over the Charlotte Hornets on March 25.

Exec: John Calipari Driven Nuts By NBA Failure, Wants Another Chance

Mar 25, 2015 1:00 PM

John Calipari has become college basketball's most impactful coach during his tenure at Kentucky with a formula that has produced one national championship, two runner-up finishes and an undefeated season to date.

Calipari, however, did not succeed in his stint in the NBA with the New Jersey Nets.

"He desperately wants it," the front office official said about returning to the NBA. "He won’t say it out loud. The NBA is the only place he’s ever failed and it drives him nuts. He’s not the same guy he was then. He came to the NBA and he wasn’t ready. He’s ready now."

Calipari has remained close with Brett Yormark, CEO of the Nets.

The Nets could have $60 million in cap space in the summer of 2016, which coincides with the free agency of LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

"All these kids, if you look at a free agent list and check off the ones who he’s got a relationship with you could build an All-Star team," a person close to Calipari said. "Start with LeBron James."

Nets Receiving Interest From Geffen, China, Qatar

Mar 2, 2015 10:48 AM

The Brooklyn Nets are receiving interest in selling their franchise to parties from the United States and abroad.

Chinese conglomerate Fosun and the Qatari government’s investment fund have signaled an interest in buying the Nets from Mikhail Prokhorov.

David Geffen is also interested one year after he was unsuccessful in purchasing the Los Angeles Clippers.

Dick Parsons, who was interim CEO of the Clippers, also has interest. Parsons would need to line up investors.

The NBA hasn’t given Prokhorov clarity on whether he can sell his 80 percent stake in the team separately from his 45 percent stake in the Barclays Arena, where the Nets play, said one banker close to the sale process.

The league requires an owner to sell the same ratio of team and arena ownership as he originally bought, although it can waive that rule.

Sports Business Journal reported the NBA told Prokhorov he had to sell both.

Some believe the NBA wants the Nets to wait until the Atlanta Hawks are sold.
