Sixers Give Holiday DNP To Preserve Psyche?

Oct 14, 2009 8:15 PM

Jrue Holiday received a DNP-Coach's Decision in Tuesday night's preseason game against the New York Knicks. He was the only player suited up that didn't get in the game.

After Wednesday's practice, Eddie Jordan talked about not playing Holiday. He said he felt bad he didn't get him in the game, but he felt New York's guards were playing at a high, intense level.

Jordan said he didn't feel comfortable tossing Holiday into that situation, but he left reporters feeling like he simply wanted to preserve Holiday's psyche.

Jordan: Brand Needs To Focus On Team Game

Oct 14, 2009 4:04 PM

Philadelphia coach Eddie Jordan is pleased with how Elton Brand has looked in camp, but wants to see the forward be a little less selfish.

"I like that he's aggressive," Jordan told the Philadelphia Daily News of Brand. "He's putting the shoulder down, he's really looking to be assertive in the paint area."

Then Jordan criticized Brand a bit.

"I want him to execute a little better, as far as spacing for his teammates, his cutting for his teammates, not for himself," Jordan added.

Sixers Will Run More Than Princeton Offense

Oct 5, 2009 6:10 PM

76ers coach Eddie Jordan says that the team will include more than just the Princeton attack into their offense this season.

"This team does play hard, and we have other things we can go to if they don't get the grasp of the offense early in the season," Jordan told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"We have normal NBA sets in our package. When I see them struggle, we'll go to some standard stuff. I tried to do that in practice the other day, and they went back to the Princeton. That's what they like to do."

Dalembert's Shoulder Injury Has Lingered

Oct 1, 2009 7:31 AM

76ers center Samuel Dalembert injured his shoulder in the team's final game of the 2008-09 regular season, but played through it in the playoffs.

Dalembert told Delaware Online on Wednesday that an MRI last spring showed that he had a "small tear" in his shoulder muscle.

He thought that everything had healed over the summer, but he aggravated the injury in practice earlier this week.

"Everything is cool," Dalembert said. "I had a little tweak [Tuesday]. It bothered me. Then I came back. It limited me a little bit in the beginning [of practice Wednesday]. Right now, it's not nearly as bad as last [season]. I'd get up in the morning and I'd feel a little pain. Right now, it's not like that."
