Evans Hits Halfcourt Game-Winner For Kings

Dec 30, 2010 7:22 PM

Tyreke Evans made a game-winning shot beyond halfcourt to give Sacramento a 100-98 victory over the Grizzlies as time expired.

"I've won a couple dollars off that shot," Evans said. "We practice it after shootaround in the morning sometimes and I'm glad we do that."

Paul Westphal hoped DeMarcus Cousins, who inbounded the ball, might find a teammate streaking down the court, but instead found Evans.

"I'd like to take credit for that one," Westphal said. "I thought I did pretty good to get them to throw the ball in. We were pretty discouraged when that shot went in (by Mayo). But I thought Memphis relaxed a little bit, and in that it's like flag football in your neighborhood street. Everybody go long."

Evans Considering Season-Ending Surgery

Dec 28, 2010 2:45 PM

Tyreke Evans has dealt with a mild case of plantar fasciitis for much of the season and his production has suffered.

He revealed after Sacramento's loss to the L.A. Clippers on Monday night that he is considering having a procedure done on his left foot to alleviate the condition that would sideline him for "three to four months."

"Hopefully (the plantar fasciitis) will go away soon," said Evans, who scored 32 points against the Clippers.

"I talked to my agent (Bob Myers) today, and I was thinking about (the procedure). ... He's going to let me know and we'll see what's up. I'll just keep that in mind, whether I want to just keep playing through it or get (the procedure) over with."

A source close to Evans said he had already decided to do the procedure which involves laser treatment soon, but his sudden resurgence might delay it slightly.

Rockets Have Spoken To Kings, Bobcats About Yao

Dec 28, 2010 7:23 AM

The Rockets have discussed Yao Ming with the Kings and Bobcats, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported on Monday afternoon that Houston was shopping the All-Star center.

Sacramento has the sort of young talent that Houston would seek as part of any deal, while Charlotte would likely have to include coveted draft picks in addition to players.

The Kings are against trading rookie DeMarcus Cousins, despite concerns about his character and the team's rough start.

Nothing is imminent, with a trade much more likely around February's deadline.

Kings Still High On Cousins' Potential Despite Volatile Nature

Dec 25, 2010 7:38 AM

Not much has gone right in Sacramento this season, but the Kings are still very optimistic about the future of rookie center DeMarcus Cousins.

"DeMarcus Cousins, he's going to be a tremendous player," Joe Maloof said. "He's going to have his ups and downs just like any rookie does. I'm telling you the way I feel. He's got extraordinary talent, and with he and Tyreke [Evans], we have a tremendous future. ... I think going forward, we're in a great, great position. We're in a wonderful situation."

There have been whispers that the Maloofs could fire coach Paul Westphal and/or general manager Geoff Petrie, but ownership has denied the rumors.

A source close to the Kings told Ken Berger of CBS Sports that ownership is concerned that Westphal isn't the right coach to handle Cousins' personality and groom him into a star.

Carl Landry Open To Houston Return

Dec 15, 2010 7:48 AM

Carl Landry says he hasn't thought about his options as a free agent, but he's open to a return to the Rockets.

Houston sent Landry to Sacramento in February as part of the Kevin Martin trade.

"The fans here were great to me," Landry said Tuesday night. "I had great support. This is a place I enjoyed. I'd consider it, definitely, but that's so far away I haven't thought about that yet.

"I'd consider every team. It was my dream to play in the NBA, not for a certain team."

Heat Win 8th Straight As Big Three Score 75

Dec 12, 2010 11:12 AM

Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh combined to score 75 points as the Heat defeated the Kings on Saturday night for their eighth consecutive victory.

Miami won 104-83 in Sacramento. Two weeks ago the Heat had a team meeting after a loss to Dallas, which was their fourth in five games.

"We have a different mentality both off the floor and on the court as well," Wade said.

"That team meeting really propelled us to where we are now. We understood and knew November was a tough month for us. But with that adversity there was a lot of growth going on. It was just about when it was going to click and right now it's clicking for us."
