Calderon Would Prefer To Sign With Lakers If Amnestied

Jun 30, 2012 7:27 PM

The Lakers are considered the favorites to sign Jose Calderon if he is amnestied by the Raptors to sign Steve Nash, according to sources.

Calderon would have to clear waivers through the amnesty process before he is free to choose his next team.

But if he does become a free agent, Calderon would then look to sign with the Lakers.

Sources say Calderon would also have interest in joining Luis Scola wherever he ends up if he is traded.

The Heat and Spurs are also intriguing to Calderon.

Patty Mills Opts For Restricted Free Agency

Jun 27, 2012 7:56 PM

Patty Mills has declined his second-year option with the Spurs.

Mills will become a restricted free agent on Sunday.

Earlier this month, Mills told an Australian website he enjoyed his time with the Spurs and would be amenable to returning.

“I really enjoy being in San Antonio and being part of that program,” Mills told TheAge.com. “I definitely want (free agency) done soon … so that I can get it out of the way and go to London with a clear head.”

Thunder, Nuggets, Spurs Express Interest In Trading Up For Beal

Jun 27, 2012 5:14 PM

Bradley Beal revealed that Sam Presti told him in an interview in Chicago that the Thunder were interested in trading up to draft him.

Oklahoma City doesn't have a selection until the No. 28 pick.

"He told me he was going to decide what they're going to do and considered getting up there," Beal said.

Beal said Denver, which picks at No. 20, also made a similar statement.

In order to draft Beal, the Thunder would almost certainly need to trade James Harden. League sources said Oklahoma City would be unable to avoid tax issues if they had Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Harden and Serge Ibaka under lucrative contracts.

Trading for Harden could make sense for a team like the Bobcats, though there is no guarantee he would be willing to sign a long-term extension.

"I've heard it a lot," Beal said of the Thunder scenario. "It's really interesting. I would love to play with Kevin Durant. (Russell) Westbrook, great point guard. Just the whole team. It's young; I would love to play with a young team. They play fast. I'd love to get up and down, shoot the ball. Overall, whatever situation I Iand in I'll be happy."

Presti and Billy Donovan have had multiple conversations on the phone about Beal, as well.

A source with direct knowledge of the situation said, "Oklahoma City exhausted every opportunity on campus to find out everything they could find out about Beal. They've done everything they can."

The Spurs have also been interested in moving up to draft Beal.

Parker Questionable For Olympics

Jun 24, 2012 5:25 PM

Tony Parker could miss the Olympics because he has not fully recovered from an injury to his left eye.

"As required by the Spurs, I will go back to the U.S. on July 5... I will visit a specialist in New York, hoping he will give the green light to compete at the Games," Parker said.

Parker will defer the decision to the Spurs.

"The Spurs are very worried,” he said. “Depending on the (examination) results, a withdrawal is possible. The decision is not mine anymore, it is up to the doctor and the Spurs."

Tony Parker was suffered a scratched retina during a New York City nightclub brawl between Chris Brown and members of Drake's entourage.

Parker expected to be sidelined for about a week while his French team prepares for the Summer Olympics.

Parker said he was wearing a "therapeutic" contact lens and had to go to an emergency room for treatment after arriving in Paris.

Parker said: "I was with my friend Chris Brown and me and my friends took some punches, so I'll be missing the start of the French team because I can't do anything for a week except keep the lens in and then take drops."

Parker Confident Diaw Will Consider Re-Signing With Spurs

Jun 12, 2012 10:19 AM

Tony Parker has encouraged Boris Diaw to return to the Spurs.

“Obviously, he would love to stay,” Parker said. “He likes it here in San Antonio. It’s going to depend. There’s so many guys on our team — Timmy, Danny Green, Patty Mills — we’ve got a lot of different (free agent) guys, but I trust their judgment.”

Diaw, who has been staying in Parker’s guest house, recently left San Antonio for Paris to begin preparations for the Olympic tournament.

“Right now all his stuff is at my house,” Parker said. “He left without notice and left all his stuff.”
