Detailed roster composition is one of the most unique new features of the new version of RealGM. On the bottom of each team's current roster page, players are listed under the category in which they were acquired.

A general manager can acquire a player via the draft (outright selection or trading for draft rights), trading for a player already under contract, or by signing a free agent to a new contract.

Certain teams tend to follow trends in how they assemble their rosters, while others have a fairly diverse portfolio, using the financial term in this metaphorical sense.
