Kentucky headlines the RealGM rankings again this week, as we had them ahead of North Carolina even before the UNLV upset. Ohio State slides into the second slot, while Syracuse jumps two slots to No. 3 following UConn’s loss and slip to No. 9.
The following stats and information were gathered from RealGM's college basketball pages.
1. The John Calipari
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Marquis Teague, Terrence Jones, Anthony Davis and Doron Lamb are separated by less than 2.5 percentage points on their season usage rating.
2. The Thad Matta
The Buckeyes are averaging 19.3 assists per game, good for seventh in the country.
3. The Jim Boehiem
Syracuse has 10 players averaging at least 11.0 minutes per game.
4. The Roy Williams
Tyler Zeller’s True Shooting Percentage has dropped from 61.0% as a junior to 52.5% through the first six games this season.
5. The Bo Ryan
Jordan Taylor has always had a strong Assist/Turnover ratio, but it is currently at 5.0.
6. The Mike Krzyzewski
Duke has been mostly using a seven-man rotation and only five players have played in 20.0 or more minutes per game.
7. The Rick Pitino
Freshman Chane Behanan leads Louisville with a 21.1 rebound rate and 13.6 per 36 minutes.
8. The Scott Drew
Quincy Miller has led Baylor in scoring in four out of their five games.
9. The Jim Calhoun
Jeremy Lamb is averaging 2.6 more three-point attempts per 36 minutes this season (6.5) compared to his freshman campaign (3.9).
10. The Chris Mack
Xavier beat Georgia on Friday, their first of five consecutive games against BCS schools if you also include Butler.
11. The Billy Donovan
Kenny Boynton, Mike Rosario and Bradley Beal are averaging 25.6, 21.9 and 18.1 points per 36 minutes respectively.
12. The Anthony Grant
Alabama has had four different players lead the team in scoring during their first seven games, though JaMychal Green has done it three times.
13. The Frank Haith
The backcourt combo of brothers Phil and Matt Pressey are responsible for more than 18 points, six rebounds and six assists per game for Missouri.
14. The Bill Self
Thomas Robinson is averaging 16.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game as his minutes have more than doubled from his sophomore season at Kansas.
15. The John Beilein
Freshman Trey Burke has had the ball in his hands a lot for Michigan with a usage rate of 23.6 and assist rate of 26.4, but he is shooting an eFG% of just 50.0% and turnover rating of 19.1%.
16. The Buzz Williams
After sneaking pass Norfolk State in the Paradise Jam title game, Marquette’s first real challenge comes on December 3rd at Wisconsin.
17. The Dave Rice
UNLV is 7-0 with a huge win over North Carolina on the books. They didn’t lose last year until December 11th against Louisville when they started 9-0.
18. The Jaime Dixon
Khem Birch’s minutes have more than doubled since being inserted in to the starting lineup. His per minute stats have been impressive, with a block every seven minutes and a rebound in every three.
19. The Mark Few
Steven Gray led Gonzaga in scoring at just 13.9 points per game last season, while Robert Sacre is averaging 17.0 points this season as a senior this season.
20. The Kevin Stallings
Vanderbilt has beaten both Oregon teams, though the final score against the Beavers was just just 64-62, compared to 78-64 against Oregon.
21. The Mike Montgomery
Justin Cobbs, a transfer from Minnesota, is averaging 11.5 points per game. He’s replaced the scoring of Markhuri Sanders-Frison who graduated as the fourth member of the Jorge Gutierrez, Harper Kamp and Allen Crabbe nucleus for Cal.
22. The Rick Majerus
Saint Louis is very deserving of their place in the top-25 with four consecutive wins over BCS schools (Washington, Boston College, Villanova, Oklahoma).
23. The Tommy Amaker
Christian Webster averaged 13.0 points per game last season, but is averaging just 4.3 this season as he has struggled badly with his shooting (24.3% from the floor). The fact that Harvard is 5-0 in spite of this is very encouraging for their chances this season.
24. The Steve Fisher
San Diego State recorded tough road wins at Arizona and Santa Barbara last week. Their next two games are at home against Creighton and Cal, both ranked.
25. The Greg McDermott
The coach’s son Doug McDermott is leading Creighton with 21.5 points per game on an unreal 72.2 TS%.
