Jalen Brunson's Game 1 Finals Jersey Sold For $1.024M At Auction

Jul 9, 2026 4:05 PM

Jalen Brunson's game-worn jersey from Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals sold for $1.024 million on Wednesday night, setting a new record for New York Knicks memorabilia. The sale came through Sotheby's as part of the auction house's NBA Finals collection.

Brunson wore the jersey while scoring 30 points as the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-95 in Game 1 on June 3. The Knicks went on to win the series 4-1 and capture the 2026 title, with Brunson earning Finals MVP honors.

The sale marks the largest public sum ever paid for a Brunson item. Still, it falls well short of the top NBA jersey sale on record: Michael Jordan's jersey from his final 1998 Finals game, which brought $10.1 million at Sotheby's in September 2022.

Sotheby's is also running a separate auction for a Kobe Bryant jersey from Game 1 of the 2009 Finals, with bidding at $1.25 million as of Wednesday. That auction closes July 20.

Brunson's memorabilia surge extends beyond jerseys. His 2018 Panini Prizm Choice Nebula one-of-one card, graded PSA 9, sold for $312,000 on June 19 through Card Ladder, up from a previous high of roughly $97,000 in November 2024. The same card had listed for just $300 in 2019.

Other Knicks jerseys from the collection also drew strong bids. Jerseys worn by OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns each sold for $256,000, while Josh Hart's jersey brought $89,600. On the Spurs' side, Victor Wembanyama's Game 1 jersey led all sales at $217,600, followed by Dylan Harper's at $115,200.

Jalen Brunson Undergoes Wrist Surgery

Jul 7, 2026 12:33 PM

New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson is having surgery on his left wrist and should resume basketball activities later this summer.

Brunson played through the injury throughout New York's championship run and the wrist ultimately required an offseason procedure.

The Finals MVP averaged 32.6 points, 4.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals across five games as the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs for their first title in 53 years. Brunson set a franchise record with 45 points in the series-clinching 94-90 victory, contributing 48 percent of New York's scoring output that night.

Brunson posted 26 points and 6.8 assists per game during the regular season before elevating his production in the postseason. He became the 13th player since 1984 to average at least 28 points per game for a championship team, finishing at 28.4 points.

New York signed Brunson to a four-year, $104 million contract in free agency back in July 2022. Brunson signed a four-year, $156.5 million extension in 2024. Brunson turns 30 on Aug. 31.

The Knicks closed the postseason with a 16-3 record, an .842 winning percentage matching the 2024 Boston Celtics for the second-best mark since the NBA adopted best-of-seven series across all rounds in 2003.

Rich Paul Details Ten Potential LeBron James Teams In Free Agency

Jul 3, 2026 6:42 PM

Rich Paul outlined ten possible landing spots for LeBron James on Friday, three days after James informed the Los Angeles Lakers he intends to sign elsewhere.

Paul broke down the options during an episode of his "Game Over" podcast alongside Max Kellerman, using a whiteboard to weigh advantages and drawbacks for each franchise. Paul told ESPN he has now spoken with 27 teams regarding James.

The Klutch Sports founder named the Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs as possibilities.

"Every day things change," said Paul, to ESPN. "This is the first time that LeBron James is making a decision pressure-free. He's won already. He's made good on his promise, he won in L.A. This is strictly for his happiness. What does happiness entail? It's a number of things. It's a bucket of happiness. It's basketball, it's living, it's camaraderie, it's competition. It's everything."

Paul highlighted Philadelphia's roster, built around Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown and Joel Embiid.

"Philadelphia, everything changed," said Paul. "How could you not have his attention when you have Maxey, Edgecombe, Brown and Embiid?

"He loves Maxey, so we don't even have to talk about that. I think V.J., he helps V.J. understand really how to play the game.

"Obviously, Jaylen Brown. Embiid is health and habits. The health and habits of Embiid are there. He enhances everything there. He unlocks everything there."

On the Cavaliers, Paul cited Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen alongside the front office.

"Mitchell, Harden, Mobley, Allen. Dan and Grant, which is the Gilberts. Plus Koby, he was there when LeBron won there," said Paul. "Big, big, big X factor, let me talk to you about Brandon Weems.

"Brandon Weems is basically LeBron's brother. Now, he worked his own way up, nobody gave him anything. He's earned to be in the front office of the Cavs. But that is a big feather in the cap for Cleveland, because of Brandon Weems."

Paul categorized the Knicks as unlikely, calling a reunion too risky given New York's championship last month.

"It's difficult, because the last thing you want to do is mess up something like that," said Paul. "The Knicks have a good thing going. If the Knicks hadn't had won, this wouldn't even be a question. There would be no board. He'd be going to the Knicks."

Paul added the Warriors remain in play after Draymond Green restructured his contract.

"You see Steph and Dray," said Paul. "Don't forget about Steph and Dray."

Sources tell ESPN that the Spurs are not considered a potential team for James to join this offseason.

Knicks Have 'Shown Some Interest' In Signing LeBron James

Jul 3, 2026 3:00 AM

The New York Knicks have "shown some interest" in signing LeBron James, according to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

During a recent podcast appearance, Rich Paul said James would have signed with the Knicks this offseason had they not just won the NBA championship.

"If the Knicks wouldn’t have won, there’d be no board,” Paul said. “He’d be going to the Knicks."

The Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers have also registered their interest in James.

It is widely expected around the league that James will likely take his time to come to a decision on where he plays next season.

The Golden State Warriors reportedly have planned additional moves to clear cap space in case James shows interest in signing with the team.

The Cleveland Cavs and Miami Heat are also mentioned as co-favorites with the Warriors to land James.
