Johnathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports: The Warriors did not cheat. They did not lie. They played by the rules everyone knew. But they tricked Marc Jackson.

The Rockets gambled when they signed Jackson, a restricted free agent, to an offer sheet they knew the Warriors could match. They gambled and they lost. The Warriors waited more than two weeks after learning that Jackson would sign with the Rockets to indicate that they would match the offer, but they always had that right.

The problem with this is that they showed that teams with absolutely no hope of signing their own free agents could effectively scam them into long-term contracts.

Feigen offers a possible solution to the Jackson affair.

Feigen also writes about a little exchange between Kendra Davis and Jerry Krause.
