Todd MacCulloch has done this kind of thing many times before.

But it used to be against Pac-10 teams, not one from the NBA.

Last night at American Airlines Arena, the former Washington Huskies center became a current sensation, torching the Sonics and leading the New Jersey Nets to a 106-94 victory.

MacCulloch scored a career-high 29 points to go with 10 rebounds and two blocks, shooting 11-for-14 from the field and making all seven of his free throws.

The likeable lug was a galloping galoot, continually beating the Sonics in transition and in the paint, contributing to a night full of ironies for the losing team.

The 7-footer was supposedly slow afoot, one reason why the Sonics opted to sign a quicker Calvin Booth last summer. MacCulloch used that perception to his advantage last night.
