Among all the side plots to tonight's game -- Michiganians Mateen Cleaves and Chris Webber vs. the Pistons; former Kings Jon Barry and Corliss Williamson returning to ARCO Arena -- the one that gets lost is that this will be the first NBA game between two of Yugoslavia's most celebrated sports figures.
Until tonight, the Pistons' Zeljko Rebraca and Kings' Vlade Divac have never played against each other except in practice.
"He is the first guy who came over to the NBA and really opened the doors," Rebraca said. "He was the first to come over and play really good. Other guys who tried before him, came over and sat on the bench. He came over with the Lakers, played in the NBA Finals and really opened up the door -- not just for Yugoslavians but for all European players."
