Former Pistons draft pick Bonzi Wells is in trouble with Portland fans for comments he made that appear in the Dec. 24 issue of Sports Illustrated.

"We're not really going to worry about what the hell (the fans) think about us," Wells said. "They really don't matter to us. They can boo us every day, but they're still going to ask for our autographs if they see us on the street. That's why they're fans and we're NBA players."

Wells insisted his comments were taken out of context and that the Sports Illustrated reporter caught him at a bad time, after a home loss to Charlotte when the Trail Blazers were booed off the floor. Wells, who apologized Wednesday for the comments, was benched in that game after scoring 12 points and committing five turnovers.

Wells hasn't played this week because of inflammation in his left knee and is listed as questionable against the Pistons.
