Two NBA head coaches may be home for the holidays... and quite a while thereafter.

Earlier today ESPN by way of the Rocky Mountain News reported that the embattled Dan Issel was ready to resign as Denver Nuggets coach and president.

Bulls coach Tim Floyd decided to beat Issel to the headline by resigning himself. Floyd reportedly is under contract through the 2004-05 season at a salary of about $2 million a year.

?I really tried to give my best effort and sometimes that?s not enough,? Floyd said Monday after announcing his resignation at a press conference.

Issel's departure would come less than two weeks after he shouted a profane and ethnically insensitive remark at a fan.

The team and Issel were working out details of a contract buyout, the papers reported.
