Heat coach Pat Riley hasn't had much to be proud of this season.

So Riley will enjoy the fact that Miami broke the NBA record Friday for consecutive games in one season without scoring 100 points.

When they beat Boston 89-66 on Friday, the Heat set the record at 30 games.

"I'm proud of it," Riley joked. "We broke a record. To me that's a good record to break."

All kidding aside, Miami has been at an alarmingly slow pace this season. Its 83.3 average this season is last in the league, and would easily break the franchise record for fewest points in a season.

Last season's 88.9 average was the lowest in team history, only slightly better than the 89-point average in the lockout shortened 1998-99 season.

Riley, though, is never overly concerned about scoring, especially not in triple figures. He would prefer every game stay in the 80s with Miami's defense prevailing.

"We don't think about it. That's just how we play," Riley said. "I think there are a lot of other teams that are right behind us, too. We just happened to get there first.

"I couldn't coach a team to score 100 anyhow."

What's more upsetting for Riley is the Heat have allowed an average of 88 points a game this season. Last year's team, led by the defense of Anthony Mason, gave up just 86.6 a contest.

? Not likely: Warriors center Marc Jackson wanted to be a Houston Rocket this summer. But when the Warriors matched Houston's offer this off-season, the restricted free agent was forced to return to Golden State.

Playing behind Adonal Foyle and Erick Dampier, Jackson is unhappy and looking for a trade.

The Heat, however, are an unlikely candidate. Jackson said he's not looking to be traded to Miami, but given that he has no choice where he gets traded, it's always a possibility.

Riley planned to play Chris Gatling behind Alonzo Mourning this season, but Gatling's erratic play has made Riley go with Vladimir Stepania more often than he'd like.

While they could be in the market for a backup center, Jackson's six-year, $24 million contract is very unattractive.

? Noteworthy: Riley said he will consider activating Sean Mark for Tuesday's game in New Jersey. In 12 games, Marks averaged 5.7 points and 4.6 rebounds.
