On NBA Draft night 2001 Loren Woods was projected to be a late lottery pick, or mid-first rounder at best.  By the end of the night he had free-fallen down to the mid-second round, taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves who had their first round pick removed for violations to the collective bargaining agreement.  That night he watched player after player be selected, leaving him stuck behind.

Thursday morning Woods was stuck behind again, the Timberwolves center unable to board a plane from Detroit to Canada with his teammates because he had no identification in order to clear customs, writes Steve Aschburner of the Star Tribune.

An attempt to express-deliver his license in time for the team's charter flight failed, forcing the team to leave Woods behind and force him to catch another plane later in the day.  Coach Flip Saunders said Woods would be fined for missing practice but will be available to play.
