Tim Hardaway had aspirations of winning an NBA title this season, so he arranged a move to Dallas and accepted a role as a backup. What he didn't expect is to end the season as the starting point guard for the Denver Nuggets.

According to Kyle Ringo of the Rocky Mountain News, Hardaway may get a reprieve at the end of the season. General manager Kiki Vandeweghe confirmed Wednesday he will explore the possibility of allowing Hardaway, 35, to become a free agent so Hardaway can try to work out a deal with a championship-caliber team.

"We'll discuss it at the end of the year, and I told him we would do that," Vandeweghe said. "I never try to stop anyone from achieving their dreams."

According to reports, Hardaway's 3-year contract contains a buyout of $1 million after the season.
