As the Sacramento Kings moved past the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the playoffs to book their place in the Western Conference Finals, Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News could not help by look back to the Kings of yesteryear, a team which lost close games and was swept in the second round, to see what has changed.

If you ask Chris Webber what he thinks his response is short and to the point; Mike Bibby.

"I feel great that I have a true point guard to play with," Webber said. "He can score 20 in the first quarter, or give out 20 assists. It's all about what he wants to do."

Last season the Kings had the flashy Jason Williams at the helm, and although he had the ability to wow the crowd and was fun to watch he had very bad shot selection and turned the ball over with regularity.  Bibby is a more conventional point guard, recording 34 assists, 10 turnovers and scoring 109 points in the Mavericks series while outplaying All-Star Steve Nash.

Against the Lakers in the second round last year Williams had more turnovers than he had assists.  The Kings were able to swap the two in a draft night trade last year.
