The Los Angeles Lakers took immediate control of the Western Conference Finals last night, taking an early lead against the Sacramento Kings at Arco Arena and never giving it up to take a 1-0 lead.

The Lakers looked like the team who went 15-1 through the 2001 Playoffs to win the championship after looking beatable in the opening two playoff rounds.  The win was the 12th straight on the road for the Lakers, but this one had added importance.  According to Michael Arkrush of the New York Times this victory confiscated home court advantage from the Kings, something that Sacramento took six months to earn.

"We're a better team on the road," O'Neal said. "I knew my guys would be ready."
