Yes, the Mavericks say they've talked a couple of times early last week with free agent forward Robert Horry, the former Los Angeles Laker.

The rest of the story is that they have talked to numerous other free agents, both before and after Alonzo Mourning decided to commit to the New Jersey Nets.

While Horry could be part of the equation, the Mavericks really don't know what direction that free-agent talent hunt could take between now and Wednesday, when players can sign.

"We've got a lot of lines out there," said Donnie Nelson, the Mavericks' president of basketball operations, confirming the Horry talks. "We had that going on before the Alonzo stuff. Nothing is imminent."

That could change Monday and Tuesday after a weekend lull.

The Mavericks continue to mull several options, still trying to find a way to pry 7-foot free agent Brad Miller out of Indiana.
