Another week, another lost free agent.

The Heat, which has more than $12 million in free agent dollars to spend, already has lost out on Gilbert Arenas, who is reportedly prepared to sign with the Washington Wizards. As a result, the team also might miss out on restricted free agent Lamar Odom.

The Clippers are preparing to offer the 6-10 forward a multiyear extension, trumping any Heat effort to sign Odom to a significant offer sheet. Last week, the Clippers matched the Heat's six-year, $82 million offer sheet to Elton Brand. They have also privately insisted they intend to match the six-year, $42 million offer the Jazz made to Corey Maggette. With a minimal amount of money committed to returning players, the Clippers can also afford to re-sign Odom while staying below the luxury-tax threshold.
