Attorneys defending basketball star Kobe Bryant in the sexual-assault case against him have issued subpoenas for law enforcement officers, a crisis hotline and an Eagle hotel, the latest in a series of sources sought for a preliminary hearing next month.

Hal Haddon and Pamela Mackey sent subpoenas to undisclosed people Thursday at the Vail Police Department, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office, the Resource Center of Eagle County crisis organization and the Best Western Eagle Lodge, according to the Eagle County district attorney's office.

Bryant, 25, is accused of sexual assault in an incident at the upscale Lodge & Spa at Cordillera near Edwards, where he was staying while in Colorado for minor knee surgery.

Mackey and Haddon previously issued a subpoena to force Bryant's 19-year-old accuser, a lodge employee, to take the stand in the Oct. 9 preliminary hearing, and they have requested medical records pre-dating the June 30 incident - efforts the woman and District Attorney Mark Hurlbert are fighting.

Hurlbert's spokeswoman, Krista Flannigan, declined to comment on the significance of the subpoenas, and Bryant's attorneys did not return calls.

Officials at the Vail Police Department and the Eagle County Sheriff's Office had no immediate knowledge of the subpoenas, and a director at the crisis center did not return calls.
