NEW YORK (AP) Dallas center Danny Fortson was suspended by the NBA for three games without pay on Friday for a flagrant foul against Phoenix rookie Zarko Cabarkapa during a loss to the Suns.

Cabarkapa, a 6-foot-11 forward from Serbia and Montenegro, drove to the basket with less than three minutes to go in Wednesday's game, and Phoenix leading by 24.

As Cabarkapa was in the air, Fortson shoved him, sending the rookie sprawling to the ground. He landed hard on his back, with his hands down to support his fall. Cabarkapa broke his right wrist and is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

Fortson's will begin serving his suspension on Friday when the Mavericks play at Denver. He will also miss home games against Minnesota on Saturday and Washington on Tuesday.
