Ron Artest did everything for Indiana. Shaquille O'Neal came back and didn't have to do much for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The two teams with the best records in the NBA won again Friday night, setting up an early season showdown in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Artest had 20 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, four steals and four blocks to lead host Indiana past the Philadelphia 76ers 90-77 on Friday night, the Pacers' eighth win in a row.

Jermaine O'Neal added 21 points, six rebounds and six blocks for the NBA-leading Pacers (14-2).

``We expect to win every single night,'' he said. ``We've kind of gotten in that habit. It's contagious.''

The Pacers will need that confidence Sunday when they take on the Lakers at Staples Center.

O'Neal, who sat out the previous two games because of a strained muscle in his right calf, had seven points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots in 25 minutes in the Lakers' 103-87 rout of the San Antonio Spurs.

He wasn't needed as Karl Malone became the first player to get a triple-double at age 40 with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

The win was the fifth straight and eighth in nine games for the Lakers (13-3) and extended their regular-season home winning streak to 24, including nine this season, to tie the Los Angeles franchise record.

They can break it with a win over Indiana.

``The team played an excellent game tonight,'' O'Neal said. ``We did what we're supposed to do _ stay dominant and hungry.''

In other NBA games, it was Boston 106, Milwaukee 96; Atlanta 95, Miami 83; Minnesota 102, Memphis 98; Toronto 87, Orlando 86; Detroit 92, Cleveland 88; Golden State 92, Phoenix 83; Utah 98, Seattle 81; Denver 113, Dallas 103; Portland 97, New Jersey 93; and Sacramento 103, Houston 74.

The tough defense of the Pacers clamped down on 76ers star Allen Iverson, who had a season-low 12 points on 4-of-19 shooting. He came in averaging a league-leading 28.1 points a game.

``I missed a lot of shots I can make with my eyes closed,'' Iverson said. ``Once you start struggling missing layups, it's harder to make a shot when you're shooting jumpers.''

Kobe Bryant and Gary Payton each scored 17 points for the Lakers, who rested their starters in the fourth quarter for the second straight game.

It was 84-55 entering the final period. At that stage, the Lakers were shooting 56.9 percent and the Spurs 31.3 percent.

``They beat us in every facet of the game,'' Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.
