General manager John Paxson gave his most definitive statements about the status of several Bulls stalwarts after practice Sunday, ruling out an in-season retirement by Scottie Pippen and all but assuring that no major moves will be made before the Feb. 19 trade deadline.

Barring, say, an offer of Shaquille O'Neal or Tim Duncan, Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry and even Jamal Crawford shouldn't have to worry about a trade until at least this summer.

"If I feel like we can improve ourselves for the rest of this year, I'll do it, but Eddy and Tyson aren't going anywhere," Paxson said. "And Jamal, I really don't see us doing anything with him. The reality is we still have the chance to match any [free-agent offer] he gets in the summer. If he wants to be here, maybe there's a way we work something out with him anyway. I'm not going to do something just for the sake of doing it."
