MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Golden State Warriors point guard Speedy Claxton will be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks due to a fractured metacarpal bone in his right hand, the team announced Friday.

Claxton injured his hand on the first play Wednesday at Memphis when he got tangled up with Grizzlies forward Pau Gasol.

Despite the injury, he played 37 minutes and scored a career-high 28 points and had seven assists in the Warriors' 99-92 victory.

``When it happened, I immediately felt it,'' Claxton said. ``But I didn't want to come out of the game. It was bugging me but I just tried to tough it out.''

The team said Claxton will be re-examined by the medical staff when the Warriors return from their four-game road trip on Sunday.

Claxton is averaging 11 points and four assists. He has started the last 29 games for the Warriors, with Golden State posting a 15-14 record.

``He's a tough guy,'' said teammate Jason Richardson. ``He plays through pain. If this wasn't that serious, he'd continue to play.''
