EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Jason Kidd was not in the lineup for the Nets' game at Denver on Tuesday night because of a bone bruise in his left knee.

An MRI exam Monday showed no structural damage, but coach Lawrence Frank said the team would not take any chances with its star.

Lucious Harris was to replace Kidd in the starting lineup.

Kidd said he was hurt after Sunday's 100-83 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. He did not know when he hurt the knee, but said it was ``banged up'' for a while and has not improved.

The Nets play the Suns in Phoenix on Wednesday, and Kidd's status is uncertain.
