Carmelo Anthony and Rodney White developed a strong bond this past season with the Denver Nuggets.  Both players grew up in the greater Washington, D.C., area, Anthony in Baltimore, and began hanging out together when Anthony joined the Nuggets roster. Anthony had made it clear to Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe that he wanted his pal back on the roster, which gave White more leverage than most non-starting small forwards.

White's status with the Nuggets is in grave jeopardy now, however, as he sits in a D.C. area jail cell, facing charges of carrying a gun without a license.  Even before this recent arrest, Denver officials had their doubts about White as a possible negative influence on young Carmelo Anthony.
