The walls may be falling down around the Nets it doesn't mean that ownership have lost faith in their GM Rod Thorn.  In fact, a report in today's New York Post reveals that quite the opposite is true, with Thorn set to sign an extension which will keep him at the helm for the next five years.

Thorn declined specifics but confirmed last night he is on the verge of signing a new deal as CEO of the Nets.

"I haven't signed anything yet. We've had discussions and I don't anticipate any problems," Thorn said before his team battled the Knicks to open their preseason campaign.

"I feel very strongly we're going to be good. It's a challenge and I look forward to the challenge. I've always been very competitive and challenges appeal to me," Thorn added.

Also set to receive an extension is coach Lawrence Frank, who is set to be with the Nets for an additional two seasons.  "We're hopeful we'll be able to end up doing something,"  said Thorn.
