Shareef Abdur-Rahim wouldn't have minded a trade to the Nets a few months ago, but now, the forward would prefer to stay in Portland.

"I'd rather be with these guys," Abdur-Rahim said, motioning to his Trail Blazer teammates as they finished up practice on Monday. "I don't want to keep moving around."

The Nets and Blazers had discussed a possible trade involving Abdur-Rahim and Jason Kidd, and the move is still not impossible if Kidd proves he has recovered from knee surgery.

Abdur-Rahim knows this and admitted that he didn't believe that he would wind up staying with the Blazers.

"I'll be surprised if I'm here the whole year," said Abdur-Rahim, who is averaging 18.4 ppg through three games. "My concern is that if they were going to trade me, I wish they had done it over the summer."

Abdur-Rahim was shipped from Atlanta to Portland during the middle of last season.

"It's not about the Nets or any team," he continued. "I just want to be situated in one place."

But if he is traded, he insists it won't be a major problem.

"I'll play wherever my contract tells me to play," Abdur-Rahim said. "I understand it's not in my hands and I'll deal with whatever situation comes up."
