The Nuggets learned on Thursday that they will receive a $1.625 million disabled players exception from the NBA. Denver applied for the exception - part of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement - two weeks ago to be able to replace Voshon Lenard.

According to the exception, a team may replace a player who suffers a season-ending injury with a player who makes up to 50 percent of the injured player's salary. One circumstance in which the exception is available is if a player is injured between July 1 and Nov. 30 and is determined to be out for the season.

"It's a good thing, and I think it's very fair," Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said. "We lost a player for a year, and (the exception is) something that we hoped for."
