Rookie guard Ben Gordon was named Bulls CDW/IBM Player of the Month for December it was announced today.  Gordon joins rookie teammate Luol Deng (November) as the season?s first two recipients of the award.

In December, Gordon averaged 14.3 ppg, 2.5 rpg and 1.7 apg in 24.1 mpg, shooting .509 from the floor, including an NBA best .553(21-38) from 3-point range, and .824 from the free throw line. He scored in double figures in nine of Chicago?s 15 games, including his current streak of four games of 19+ points.  He tallied 20+ points in three games, including a season-high 31 points in Chicago?s 99-88 win over Minnesota (12/11).  His 31-point performance is the most points scored by any rookie this season.  He also led the Bulls in scoring five times.

Against the Timberwolves (12/11), Gordon played 31 minutes off the bench and scored a season-high 31 points after shooting 13-of-24 (season-highs in field goals made and attempted), including a perfect 4-of-4 from three-point range.  He tallied 23 points in 27 minutes versus Portland (12/20) after connecting on hitting 10-of-15 field goal attempts.  At Detroit (12/22), Gordon scored 10 of his team-high 19 points in the fourth quarter to help the Bulls hold off the Pistons 89-82.

Among NBA leaders this season, the 6-3, 200-pound guard ranks sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.462). His three-point field goal percentage of .553 (21-38) in December was tops in the NBA (minimum 15 3FG made).

Among NBA rookies, Gordon is tied for second in scoring average, second in three-point field goal percentage, first in free throw percentage, sixth in minutes per game, eighth in assists per game, ninth in field goal percentage and 19th in rebounds per game.
