With his part-ownership of the Atlanta Hawks now a thing of the past, Steve Belkin is sticking in the NBA and is already rumored to be looking to get involved with another NBA franchise.

The Daily News has learned that Belkin is already trying to buy another NBA team, and the transaction could happen within a year.

NBA commissioner David Stern has requested that all parties refrain from making further comments and concluded: ``The differing opinions among Hawks owners over the Joe Johnson trade made it clear that philosophical differences exist over how best to build the Hawks into a winning franchise. I appreciate that Steve has voluntarily resigned . . . in order to insure that the team can move forward with one voice. I certainly hope that he will consider returning to the NBA as an owner of another franchise in the near future.''
