Forward Joe Smith will not play in either of the Milwaukee Bucks' games this weekend and may be getting closer to having knee surgery that would require from four to six weeks of recovery time.

Smith and forward Bobby Simmons (sprained ankle) did not practice Thursday, and guard Michael Redd (thigh bruise) was limited in what he could do, meaning the Bucks for the most part had only 10 players available for what was a limited workout.

Simmons and Redd are questionable for tonight's game against the Washington Wizards at the MCI Center. The Bucks will return home to play Orlando on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.

Bucks coach Terry Stotts said earlier this week that Smith might have to undergo a medical procedure to take care of the left knee pain that has been bothering him for much of the season. Smith's condition does not appear to be improving.

"I think a decision will have to be made here in the next few days as to whether to rest it or have some type of procedure," Stotts said.

"It's just a reaction (to playing). I think there's some stuff floating around. It subsides and he's fine for two or three weeks, but then it comes back."
