Despite experimenting with a three-guard lineup, the Los Angeles Clippers decided they no longer needed Howard Eisley and released the veteran Tuesday.

Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy used the formation to cover for the absence of injured forward Corey Maggette. He occasionally teamed veteran guards Sam Cassell and Cuttino Mobley with 6-7 youngster Shaun Livingston, who recently returned from a back injury.

Eisley, 33, appeared in just 13 games and averaged 0.7 points in 1.9 assists in 8.6 minutes. He was in his first season with the Clippers after signing as a free agent in November.
