Tyson Chandler?s trip home to Southern California had unexpected consequences.

Chandler showed up at Sunday night?s game against the Los Angeles Clippers with a shaved head. Not a clean, Michael Jordan-style shave, but a much different look for the 7-foot-1 center.

?It feels a little awkward right now,? he said before the game. ?I went to the barber shop. I just had to turn my head and tell them to take it all off. I couldn?t look at it. I just told him, ?Man, make it quick.? I didn?t want to look at it until it was done.?

Difficult as it was to shed his hair, Chandler did it for a good reason. He wanted to show support for an uncle, Darnell Threadgill, who is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for lung cancer.

Threadgill was in attendance Sunday at the Staples Center, along with most of Chandler?s immediate family.

?I came home and I hadn?t seen him since he had been sick,? Chandler said. ?I was real touched by him, so I just wanted to support him in some kind of way.

?I?m real vain about my hair, so I just chopped it off for him, just in support, because he?s going through chemo and I know how vain he is. I just kind of did it with him.?
