The Golden State Warriors received good news Friday when they leant that guard Monta Ellis' injury wasn't serious, but Ellis said he knew earlier.

Ellis said he knew everything was fine when he woke up Friday morning.

"When I hurt my left knee, I couldn't bend it at all, then it swelled up the second day real bad," said Ellis, who tore cartilage in his left knee in high school. The ensuing surgery contributed to Ellis' falling out of the first round of the 2005 NBA draft.

"This one didn't swell up at all, and I could bend it. I really knew it wasn't that bad."

An MRI revealed no structural damage and no tears.
