Former NBA star Scottie Pippen took a bath -- to the tune of $1 million -- on his 18,700-square-foot Portland mansion featuring six full bathrooms and three half-baths.

Pippen and his wife, Larsa, sold their 2.28-acre estate in the city's West Hills area last month for $2.95 million. They bought it in 2000 for $4 million.

Portland's real estate market has defied the national downturn, but things are different with big houses at the high end, real estate agents told The Oregonian.

"You're trying to find a buyer that wants that location in a house that big," said Veronica Story, the agent who sold the house. "Those buyers are few and far between."
