Derek Fisher signed a contract today to return to the Lakers in a three-year deal worth about $14 million, but he didn't want to speculate about whether his coming back would influence Kobe Bryant's decision to remain with the team.

"I can't say if it will ? I hope so," said Fisher. "I don't come in here feeling like I'm the answer to anything, but I hope that I get chance to play with him forever."

During a press conference at the team's practice facility in El Segundo, Fisher said his decision to rejoin the Lakers was not motivated by the opportunity to play with Bryant or to make a ton of money or win more championships.

Fisher made his decision to play in Los Angeles because the city offers the medical help needed to treat his one-year-old daughter's rare form of eye cancer.
