In his first interview in two weeks, Jason Kidd said on Monday his injured back feels great, that he hopes to play in one of the Nets' last two preseason games and he's certain he'll be ready for next Wednesday's season opener.

"We're shooting for the beginning of the season, and if anything happens beforehand where I feel good, then I'll play in one of the two [preseason] games," said Kidd, who wouldn't comment on his off-court issues other than to say he hadn't been questioned by the police.

But the Nets are more concerned about his health than his legal woes, and they're cautiously optimistic. After shooting for the second straight day, Kidd hopes to do some non-contact drills in the shootaround before tonight's Boston game.
