The Atlanta Hawks? Josh Smith and the Portland Trail Blazers? Brandon Roy were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week on Monday, respectively, for games played Monday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 9.

Smith led the Hawks to a 3-1 week, averaging 22.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.3 blocks. On Dec. 6 against Minnesota, Smith tied an NBA season high with seven blocks to go along with 28 points and seven rebounds. Smith is the only player to rank in the top 10 in both blocks (3.6 bpg, 1st) and steals (1.9 spg, 10th) and has blocked two or more shots in 16-of-18 games this season.

Roy led the Trail Blazers to a 3-0 week, averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists. The reigning T-Mobile Rookie of the Year posted career-high stats in the Trail Blazers? win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 9, with nine assists and eight defensive rebounds. Roy shot 59.2 percent from the field and tied his career high with 11 baskets against Memphis and Milwaukee on Dec. 3 and Dec. 9, respectively.
