Arizona Wildcats' men's basketball Coach Lute Olson isn't expected to coach a single game this season because he's on personal leave, but he'll continue to be paid his $738,000 base salary.

Olson's pay makes him one of the top earners in the state university system, but it remains unclear how officials decided to continue his salary when he's expected to be off the job for months. University of Arizona officials said his leave complies with policies, although they declined to say how, or if Olson is using sick, vacation or personal time.

The legendary Arizona coach announced Nov. 4 that he was temporarily stepping aside to deal with a personal matter that was not health-related.

The 73-year-old followed up with an announcement Dec. 6 extending his leave through the end of the basketball season, citing ``personal issues within my family that need to be addressed,'' but not related to his impending divorce from his second wife, Christine Olson, 50. He had filed for divorce on Dec. 6, as well.
