Pat Riley, who is reexamining his roles with the Heat, disputed a report that he was contemplating stepping down as coach.

The combination of a horrendous season and ineffective personnel moves has Heat President and Coach Pat Riley reevaluating his commitment to hold both roles beyond this season.

But Riley refuted a published report Wednesday that he is leaning toward stepping down as coach at the end of this season to work full-time in the front office. He also stopped short of committing to anything in his future beyond trying to get his team out of its funk.

Riley, 62, announced in August that he would coach the remaining three seasons on his contract. But the team's struggles this season have left Riley contemplating how he could best reverse the franchise's path.

"Don't ask me that question," Riley said before Wednesday's game against the Bucks. "There are too many hypotheticals in a season like this. You don't want to turn the knife too early on things. Just let things work its way out."
