Stanford Coach Trent Johnson has a verbal agreement to become the first-ever African American men's basketball coach at LSU.

Sources have told FOXSports.com a news conference is expected on Thursday.

Johnson, who led the Cardinals to the Sweet 16 this season, has agreed in principle to a deal that will take him to LSU, according to sources close to the situation.

Johnson, 51, has spent the past four years at Stanford but stood to lose both Brook and Robin Lopez. The 7-foot twins declared for the NBA Draft but have yet to sign with an agent.

He'll be replacing John Brady, dismissed in early February after 11 seasons.
