The Warriors issued a statement on Sunday denying a report that they are investigating how point guard Monta Ellis injured his left ankle, according to ESPN.com.

The report was originally seen in a Bay Area newspaper, claiming that the team had doubts about the guard's explanation on how he hurt his ankle.

Monta's ankle will be immobilized for six weeks, followed by at least six weeks of off-court rehab. That rules Ellis out for all of training camp and the preseason and at least the first month of the regular season.
