Lakers coach Phil Jackson doesn't believe that he's a candidate for this year's Coach of the Year award because the team was supposed to be good.

"(Jeff) Van Gundy has been plugging for his brother (Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy) quite a bit, and he should do that," Jackson said. "Last year, Doc (Rivers) won it, of course. That was a runaway. That was Boston.

"I just heard the Miami-New Orleans game and Miami is making a case for their coach (Eric Spoelstra). Miami, that's a team that went from last to fourth or fifth in the East. So, there are supporting factors all the way around. Last year, we finished first in the West and we're going to do it again. I think it's kind of expected."
