Kobe Bryant was supposed to have surgery on his pinkie finger after last season, but has delayed the procedure indefinitely.

"I don't think I need to get the surgery," Bryant said Sunday. "The surgery takes too long to recover from. It's pointless.

"It feels fine. It's not crooked, it's just a little swollen. It doesn't bother me enough to get surgery on it. The only reason it's swollen is because I hit it in the Houston series."

Instead of surgery, Bryant plans to take a break this summer.

"I haven't had a break in like three years," he said.

He won't get any rest, however, until after the Western Conference Finals, and possibly the NBA Finals.

"We've got two more series. There's two more series and we've just got to get it done, got to get it (freaking) done," Bryant said. "We can be tired in August."
