Portland general manager Kevin Pritchard is excited about the team's depth entering the season.

"I was talking to (assistant general manager) Tom Penn and (coach) Nate McMillan the other day. We have competition at every single position," Pritchard told the Columbian. "And high level competition. Some of the guys who may come off the bench are good enough to be starters and vice versa, right?"

Specifically, Pritchard is excited about how Steve Blake and Andre Miller will compete for minutes at point guard.

"I had sort of an 'a-ha' moment regarding Andre and Blake, in that we feel like we've got a good tandem; they're going to push each other," the GM added.

"But better than that maybe, I know Blake is an ultimate competitor ? I've seen it; he gets after it. I've seen so much of Andre and how he makes everybody else better. I know that they're going to compete their butts off against each other. But when we start the games, it's going to be all about winning. I guarantee that. I see it already. And probably more than anything, I'm excited about that."
