Kobe Bryant scored 40 points for the 100th time in his illustrious NBA career on Tuesday night when the Los Angeles Lakers held off the Detroit Pistons, 106-93, at Staples Center.

Nursing a strained groin, Bryant played 39 minutes and shot 17 of 29 from the field.  He had five rebounds, five assists, and three steals to go along with his 40 points.

Bryant is third on the all-time list in 40+ point performances, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain (271) and Michael Jordan (173).
