Jason Kidd believes the Nets will have a better chance at landing big-time players once the construction of their new Brooklyn arena is finished.

"Unless it's built, you can't believe it," the former Nets guard said.

Kidd traveled to play the Nets at the Prudential Center, the team's temporary home for the next two seasons, as a member of the Mavericks on Saturday night.

The team's new Barclays Center in Brooklyn is not scheduled to open until 2012.

"I think you have to be patient," Kidd said when asked if he feels the Nets will get better.

"You have a free agent class coming up, they have a new owner and a new coach, so I think you have to be patient and, at the same time, you have to have a little luck, too. Hopefully, those things will turn for the better for the Nets."
