Oak Hill, currently ranked ninth in the country nationally, suffered a 70-62 double-overtime loss to Montrose Christian on Wednesday night in Beckley, W.Va. But they rebounded on Friday with an 85-29 win over Veritas Christian Academy.

“We definitely wanted to make a statement and play Oak Hill basketball,” said Quinn Cook, who has signed to play at Duke.

Oak Hill began the season ranked No. 1 in the USA Today Super 25 national poll.

Oak Hill suffered losses to Milton, Ga., and United Faith Academy (N.C.) in early January.

“When you think of high school basketball, you think of Oak Hill,” Cook said. “Every team views playing us as their Super Bowl. That definitely motivates us.”

Cook leads Oak Hill with 18 points per game and is the latest in a long line of point guards.

“Quinn is not the quickest point guard we’ve had, but he’s smart and makes plays,” Smith said. “He can score, but we don’t need that on most nights.”
